Veterans’ Aid and Attendance Pension Benefits Have Increased for 2018

Veterans SalutingThe New Year brings good news for veterans!

This year, veterans will receive the highest cost of living increase since 2012! Veteran beneficiaries will see a 2% increase. This will impact approximately 1.96 million military retirees and 4 million disabled veterans.

Increases to the Non-Service Connected Aid and Attendance pension benefits are noted below:

Two Married Veterans $2903
Veteran with a Spouse $2169
Single Veteran $1830
Surviving Spouse $1176

For many veterans, the Aid and Attendance benefit provides the income necessary to receive care right at home. Veterans can also use this money to pay a loved one who may have been forced to cutback or leave work to provide the veteran the care he or she needs.

Keep in mind that this “Pension Benefit” is income tax free and IS NOT dependent upon service-related injuries for compensation. Aid and Attendance can help pay for care in the home, Nursing Home or at an Assisted Living facility.
